Hirers don’t care about your cover letter: they want to know what role you do, which city you’re in, what languages you speak, when you’re free and which events you’ve worked on. If that’s visible in ten seconds, they call. If they have to dig, they move on.
We read a lot of CVs every season. This is what works.
The structure that works
| Block | What to include | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Photo | Real, good light, neutral background | It’s the first thing people look at |
| Headline | Your role in one line | «Production assistant with a car, Valencia» |
| City and mobility | Where you live and whether you travel | Agencies search by area |
| Languages | With real level | They open half of all events |
| Availability | Weekends, weekdays, season | What matters most for a gig |
| Events | One per line, with numbers | Your real experience |
| Skills | Tools, licence, specialisms | What sets you apart |
| Rate | Per day, hour or project | Saves conversations |
| Contact | Phone, email, LinkedIn | Easy to reach |
How to describe each event
The typical mistake is «Host at various events (2023 to 2025)». That says nothing. Describe each event like this:
Event type, city, attendees. Your role. One concrete action.
Examples:
- International medical congress, Barcelona, 2,000 attendees. Badges. QR check-in of 600 people in the first hour.
- Product launch, Madrid, 300 guests. Production assistant. Photocall build and furniture supplier coordination.
- Gala dinner, Seville, 450 guests. Host. Table guidance with the seating plan and cloakroom.
- Company incentive, Cancún, 120 people. Group coordination. Airport transfers and excursions over 4 days.
With five lines like these, your CV already says more than two pages of text.
If you have no event experience
Include what is similar and make it concrete:
- Hospitality: «Waitress at a 120-cover restaurant, weekend shifts».
- Customer service: «Hotel reception, group check-in».
- Volunteering: «Volunteer at a 3,000-runner race, bib distribution».
- Organising: «Organised the end-of-year trip for 60 people».
And read the guide on how to work in events with no experience.
What to leave out
- Generic career objective. «Looking to grow in a dynamic environment» adds nothing.
- Skill bars. «Communication 80%» means nothing.
- Three pages. One is enough.
- Party photos or photos cropped from a group.
- Irrelevant data: marital status, ID number, full address.
Why a live profile beats a PDF
Agencies don’t search by reading PDFs one by one. They search by filtering: hosts with English in Málaga available on Saturday. A PDF can’t be filtered and it’s out of date the day after you send it.
On the Freelance Board your profile is your CV: photo, headline, areas, city, languages, level, rate, availability, skills and links. Agencies find you when they filter, you see a 0 to 10 score showing what’s missing and, when someone asks for your CV, you download it as a PDF in one click, always up to date.
At trade shows and networking events, share your profile with a digital business card instead of handing out paper.
Checklist before sending
- Real, recent photo.
- Headline with role and city.
- Languages with honest level.
- Clear availability.
- Each event with type, city, attendees, role and action.
- Rate, or at least how you work.
- Phone and email you actually check.

In the events industry it is common, especially for hosts, welcome staff and coordination. A real photo, good light, neutral background.
How do I list the events I've worked on?
One per line: event name or type, city, number of attendees, your role and one concrete action. For example: Medical congress, Madrid, 1,200 attendees, badges, 40 issues solved on day one.
